Happy Anniversary to Us

My sweet husband surprised me this year with a little trip that he planned well in advance. It wasn't a trip to Europe or Tahiti, but was just as meaningful in that he came up with it all on his own to treat me. We went to the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine for the weekend and had a great time. It is a beautiful place - magnificant landscaping, architecture and decorating - and we just took it easy and enjoyed everything. I have never seen some of the plant and tree species and they were so well kept. Can't imagine the staff that requires.

We explored around the area a little too, including downtown Main Street which has many interesting shops and some open air shopping as well. Of course we couldn't pass up the mainstays, Bass Pro Shop and Grapevine Mills Mall. I really preferred downtown, tho. A calmer atmosphere and more interesting finds.

So now I am settling back down to finish more little projects around here. Painting old patio furniture mainly. It's kind of hard when it's too hot in the day when I can see and too dark to see in the evening when it is cool. So it will probably be blotchy, which is kind of what I'm after anyway. I'll get it done, tho.

Anyway, just wanted to keep things current-ish on here so I can gripe at you other slow poke bloggers.

Finished!!

At least ONE more major undertaking is. I finished the mosaic tile table I started last July. I couldn't remember when I started it, so had to look back in my blog to find that it was in July, 2005. Seems a little more like 10 years. I figured out after the first month that maybe I should have started on something a little smaller for my first project, but that is typical of me. I'm always optimistic about how long anything takes so I plunge in, then it is too late to back out, so I have to push ahead. One of my neighbors took one look last summer and said I wouldn't have it done by Christmas. Hmmm - oh well. How else would we get anything done? I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out, but mostly very happy that it is DONE. It sits right outside our glass doors and we have had to look at the unfinished mess all this time. We got a little more furniture for the porch too since we spend so much time out there. It really is great how comfortable it is. Even on the hottest days, after the sun goes down it is just fine. We usually get a little cross breeze and have fans too, so it is very pleasant. We often see all kinds of wild life walking across our property. I'm sure that's because our neighbors put lots of feed out for them. All the animals love them. Anyway, most of you who read this already knew I finished - probably heard the great big sigh I let out when I put down the last piece. I actually didn't have anyone to document the last piece, so we faked it. I sort of thought there would be all kinds of cameras and a drum roll when I put it down, but I think that was all in my head. Probably a good thing it wasn't really photographed. I was looking pretty used up...more than in the fake picture.

No more major news to report from our end of the world. I still have a lot I want to do at Andra & Zachs and have been delayed by many things. I will have to put it on my schedule and prioritize it. It's actually been on my schedule many times, and events happen, people visit, other things bump it off...I WILL get it done too...at least my part.

Sadee is really motivating around these days. She is getting bolder all the time about what she will attempt. Fun to watch, but we sure do have to be diligent to keep up with her. It's easy to see why childbearing and rearing is for the young. We got a little swing to hang on the porch for her when she is here. It is just like the one Andra & Zach got her at their house. She loves it. I'll be so glad when our yard is more finished and we can get more things for her to do out there. By next summer, she will be ready to do everything. Hope we are ready.

Ok, I need to go do something more productive. Time for the rest of you deadbeats to publish something else for us oldn's to read. We don't go to as many sites to poke around on as ya'll do, so humor us. Maybe you will get a bigger Christmas present.
