To Break the Pattern
I am posting something so I will have 2 in April and so ya'll will have something new to look at and hopefully inspire others. Not likely the later will happen, but maybe.
I don't know where the time goes. For someone without an official paying job, I somehow manage to stay very busy. I guess it's a pattern, huh.
We have finally been getting rain, which is great. Everything is so green and pretty. Of course, the weeds love it too. One interesting thing we have is wild Verbena all over our back yard. I would like to move some to our island out front, but haven't tried yet. Last year we had just a few bushes, but this year it looks like a lavendar field. The other wild flowers haven't really done much, however, including the Bluebonnets. I guess the lack of rain last Fall really effected them, but hopefully they will be back next year.
Speaking of outside, we have been working on it, but the retaining walls we need to build haven't been done yet. Lar has to get a very big piece of machinery cause the rocks are hugh for the stacked wall he is doing out back. I hope he can get it done soon before it gets too hot. All in due time I'm sure. I'm kind of waiting for my buddy to get settled in here and to give me more ideas on what to plant before I go too hog wild on buying things. We did manage to get a little furniture for the back porch to make it more comfortable. Is is so pleasant out there in the afternoon and evening. Speaking of back porch furniture, I am happy to report a great deal of progress has been made on the infamous mosiac tile table I am making. I am determined to finish it before May is out, and it looks like I will. The background color is all that is left and it is well over half done. It seems to be easier for some reason - either that or I am just getting less picky as I go along. Andra helped me last week for a bit too. Misti, if you want to do any more on it you had better hurry up.
I have also managed to get the electricians back to fix a couple of things and to add lights in our kitchen. Wow what a difference it has made. I don't know where my brain was when we first did the kitchen that i didn't think of it then. Oh well. And being inspired for Jody & Karen, I have added dimmers everywhere, which also enhances the ambiance. The only problem is I can see dirt I didn't know was there. I guess that's not really a problem, just more work for me. But afterall, what else have I got to do?
I still haven't figured out why the picture thing won't work, but I eventually will. Just be patient. If it was working, I would post a picture of a vine that has come up in one of my topiary pots out front that might be poison ivy. I don't think it is, but it has "leaves of three", so I am letting it be until I can get offical confirmation. I have taken a leaf and pictures to the ag agent. He is not sure either, so he is emailing the pics to more experts. I hope is isn't because if not, I am going to try to transplant it where I want a health vine to grow. It is very healthy and growing very fast.
So now, will the rest of you say something? Yeah, you.
