Tired of Looking at the Brain

There is no real major reason for this post other than I was tired of looking at that brain - ha. Don't believe it anyway. So I am showing you my latest major undertaking. It's kind of fun when it's not too hot out there. I'll be glad when I get to the outer area so I can sit down and work. I've been a little slow deciding on colors, etc.

We have a block party to go to this weekend down the street. Some of my neightbors I haven't seen since a Christmas block party of sorts. I thought we would have one, but we haven't managed that yet. Maybe when I get my table finished and a front yard....or not.

Anyway, things are pretty calm around here mostly. Is that the one before the storm? Could be. We had another visit last night from a couple who are having their house built by our builders. They are real nice folks, moving to Bluffdale, at Mountain Lakes.

Oh yeah, and my laptop is on life support, but the good news is my database has been transfered to my desktop, so it is ok. I will have my brilliant kin folk try to revive the old thing. It is handy to have around sometime.

So now you know most of my life...that I'm talking about.

Some say I will have this finished by Christmas. They didn't say WHICH Christmas. Any helpers? Posted by Picasa

Just what is "settled down"?

I keep waiting for that to happen and things to get back to "normal". I think I have finally decided "normal" for me is going mach 10 with my hair on fire as a friend once told me. Actually, these days I'm only going mach 5 and sometimes my hair is not burning. But anyway, I seem to have a million and 1 projects going at all times, and pick up another one or two every few days.

I made a flying trip to West Texas and New Mexico. I was gone 5 days, which was a lot and I was a little home sick. I had a good time visiting with many people, including my long lost New Mexico relatives. I am hoping to have a visit from them some day. It was a good time, tho.

Yesterday and today we visited the house/property A & Z are buying as the present owners are having an estate sale and it was a good chance for the dads and other family members to get a look at the place and inside the house. The inspector was there, so they got to get some good information. I measured up the house to do my thing and have been working on that off and on since. I have many ideas. Not yet sure how feasible they all are, but time will tell. It is a beautiful property with a lot of potential - and sooo close!

Sadee is growing by the minute and is so much fun to watch as she discovers her hands and also how to get our attention if we happen to lapse and take it off her. She still draws attention everywhere we go with her. I guess there are probably SOME other children like that, but...

Still working on my table project. Trouble is it is too hot during the day and I get lazy by night time. I will finish it one of these days. Maybe some of you other crafty type people can come help me finish it. We could sit on the veranda with our mint julips (whatever theose are) and glue tiles. Vicki, you need to know how to do this?

Guess nothing much major happened here while I was gone other than the field Larry helped almost burn down. He was not the main culprit, however. He just helped save it. I had to weasel that info from my neighbor.

Ok, that's all the trivia I can think of for now that can be published. I don't even have a new picture, so I finished.

The Stocks have a new grandbaby girl born Tuesday. Everything is great per the grandparents. I am still waiting for the pictures. Won't we have fun shopping for little girls stuff?

Family, family everywhere!!

We did have a good time this past weekend in Gatesville at the Huckabee family reunion. Thanks to my sister & niece and some cousins, I think it was a rousing success. Becky came here Thursday night to finish up some of the displays, including one large one of the family tree. I helped her a bit and it was very useful in learning who some of my ancestors were. I always knew there was a Grandfather Abraham somewhere, but there he was...my great, great, great grandfather. And I have a greatgrandpa Elijah Caleb too.

Anyway, we had lots and lots of cousins and the display board helped us all figure out how we were connected. Many I don't remember ever meeting, but some I had maybe 40 years ago. We had a good turn out of cousins from Grandpa Ed (my dad's father). Hadn't seen some of them since '94, and some farther back than that. We did a lot of catching up and hope to stay in touch. Had a good time watching Aunt Wanda play at Pearl as Andra mentioned. Some real good music to be had out there. We will have to go back since it is really only about an hour from us and they do it every month.

And Sadee had a good time as you can see from Andra's site. She swam in the pool and took in all the company. We even had a small jam session at the hotel with Zach (my cousin's son who has cut a few albums), cousin Tom & I.

Lar and I went to Granbury yesterday a.m. and managed to hit town just as they were having a parade. We promptly left the downtown area and ate out on the highway and messed around a while to wait for the crowds to subside. Then we went back downtown and went in a few shops. We managed to find a couple of things Lar bought me for my b/d. An antique bench, which will be cool as a coffee table, and a small iron table for the back porch that I have been eyeing for over a year. Nice of them to have it on sale for me.

Back at home yesterday, we had a visit from a 5' long racer snake. Didn't stay long, tho. And last night we had a raccoon up on the porch checking out the cat food. He didn't much like it. Tonight our neighbors had us over for supper and suprised me with a little birthday stuff. We watched the deer, fox and birds feed while we ate. That was nice. Afterwards, we took a ride up by Lar's new office and discovered about 20 black cows on the road. They had gotten out of a pasture the Water District owns and has leased to someone. So Lar & I jumped in his truck and called folks and went to round them up. You can't really see black cows at night on the road. They all went back without incident.

So that is the saga of my life. Tomorrow I have to go find fabric to recover my new bench. Fun stuff and another project. I must have a project...maybe I should finish the last one first? Nah.
