Trial, Error and Triumph
We finished the stained floors - well, almost. We are finished for now and are in the process of covering them for the hords to come in and finish everything else. We will have to go back and fix a couple of spots due to the afore mentioned "trial and error" issues. We seemed to have gotten the wrong attachment to the buffer...the guy at the store SWORE it was a natural bristle - wrong. It was a stripper. Took 3 trips to get that right. Once we did, things went well. The actual staining and clean up were not bad at all - just the waxing and not knowing what the heck we were doing. But we know now. Anyway, the end result is great, so on we go.
I was thrown head long into more buying and other decisions today. I have to buy the appliances before January 1 due to price increases, so I'm deciding tomorrow or sometime this week. I'm close on that. I have been trying to decide on wall textures for some time now and just tonight we went to a Christmas party and I loved the texture they had on their walls. Now if I can just convey that to the right folks. I'm hoping they will have some kind of sample boards we can look at. If all else fails, I will haul them to the house and show them. I went to look at light fixtures today and that was a little overwhelming. I'm thinking I will do that in spurts so as not to be too confused.
The contractor is coming tomorrow morning with a lady who will help us pick out the trim and measure for all that. The insulators are coming Wednesday and the sheetrock will start next week. I have to go meet with the cabinet guy again maybe next week. Faucets need to be picked. Couches need to be located and a few more furniture pieces...not to mention - oh nevermind. It's wearing me out to even think about it all right now and I'm sure you are crossing your eyes reading all this. Anyway, enjoy the latest pics of the floors.
MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT....A LITTLE EARLY.

Short Hello
It has been busy around our world. We finished staining the floor today, but the fun begins tomorrow when we start cleaning up and finishing the floor. It would be a little nicer if it wasn't going to be below freezing until maybe noon tomorrow. I think I will wear lots of clothes for that job. It's pretty messy too. All you Andrews friends remember that I'm sure. But I think it will be worth it in the end. When we finally finish that, we can get out of the way of the real contractors.
We had a fun-filled action packed weekend. Our friends from Arizona came to check out their land and some of their friends from the Metroplex came to check it out too. We had a fun visit. We also scurried down to Burnett to catch the Bethlehem show with Adm, Moe and the other outlaws. We had a lot of fun. It was pretty amazing what they have down there. Check it out sometime.
We are going to a party at a neighbors this week. They have been here about 2 years I think. They live about 3 houses down. I think it will be most of the neighborhood. That will be fun. I am tempted to make everyone wear a name tag with their name and address on it so I can get it straight. I will eventually. We actually met several of our neighbors at the first meeting of the soon to be property owners association. We want to get our entry area fixed back up and a big light put up. I have missed the entrance 2x at night so far so that should help.
No pictures this time. Maybe next time. Anyway, bye from GR. And Happy Birthday to our Marissa. 27 years ago you were just 1 1/2 hrs old and I was out like a light.
Good night all.

The long awaited
Ok, here is the long awaited post. I am going to try to put up some pictures too, but we will see. I guess I could have waited until tomorrow afternoon when the painters were completely finished, but this will be close enough. We like the colors...at least Lar says he does. I think he is just saying that so I don't make him pick something. That is the hardest part of this whole process...making decisions and picking everything. It's just that I have been looking for so long at so much I kind of go brain dead. I'm sure I have made some choices I would change a little, but nothing major yet. The overall look is what I'm after - so far. Just don't ask me what it is - I can't really describe it, but I have it in my head. I'm ready to get it out of my head and into reality so I can put something else in my head. No comments about that!
The rock is completely finished and Clee fixed my fireplace for me himself. He's the nicest man. We really like the painting crew too, led by Tim. He is most kind and does a real good job. He does not rush things, like some might. And he discussed things with me, explaining the pros and cons. I liked that too.
We had a little storm thru here this afternoon with winds around 50 mph. Our back porch didn't even get wet and the front porch only got a little wet. That's a good sign. We can sit out there and watch the rain next year. I think we will be doing that a lot from what I have observed so far.
Our friends who bought land near by are coming this week for a few days. We are looking forward to that. Some other friends from Pecos are probably coming as well, but just for the weekend. We are looking forward to seeing all of them. Tomorrow some of Lar's Andrews friends are coming for business and are coming by. And my cousins came by Saturday when I was next door at a Christmas party and I missed them. Lar was here so he showed them thru - just wish I hadn't been gone. So ya'll come back when I'm here, k? Our old neigbors from Andrews, who now live in Hamilton, came Saturday as well. She came to Cindy's party and he was entertained by Lar. You know that was fun.
I am going to have to make some trips to the cities next week to decide on yet some more stuff. This is hard on my disorganized brain. And it is a busy time of year as well. I think we are starting to get a little stir crazy here, but not too bad. I am feeling more and more like a big momma bear, however, and the need to hibernate is lurking in the back of my brain. I tried to start a couple of times but the poppa bear keeps waking me up. Ugh. Guess it will have to wait.
I'm going for now. Most of you need to post. You know who you are.
Ps – this thing didn’t want to post, so I saved it as a word doc. Glad I did that. I would not have been happy to rethink all of this.
Pss - Lar is at a "boys night out" playing dominoes and watching the game. Hmm.
