The front again - almost finished Posted by Hello

Short Update

I'll just catch you up a bit, but don't have much time these days...or so it seems. We have had a lot of rain or drizzle, but I guess everyone has. It makes for slow days on the house, but they are still getting things done. I think I am the slowest one of all as I haven't completely made up my mind about a lot of things. All in due time I guess. It's hard to pick paint color when there is no sun.

I am going to try to put up a picture of the front of the house. They can't finish the rock until they get the front door and side doors, which should have been here, but the door maker is waiting on the special seeded glass and and and and...I better get used to that. I am hoping they get here next week, and I am hoping the sun comes out and stays for a while. It's hard to smell fireplaces burning without having one to burn. Oh well, at least I'll have one next year.

Larry finished the tile in the bathroom in the apartment and I finished all the touch up painting I think. It looks really nice and I'm glad to have that done. This is really going to be nice quarters for company. Some might not want to leave. They could live out here for a while without much effort. Hmm, I better not say that too loud. Who knows who will show up for an extended visit...maybe cuzn Eddie...I don't think we have one of those, but he might show up anyway.

Ok, I'm closing and going to try to add the picture...wish me luck.

And Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. Eat a turkey leg for us.

Whirlwind Trip, Etc.

Last week was a full week. We went to the Republican watch party Tuesday night to see how the elections came out. I didn't actually find out anything before I left at around 11pm, but met lots of local folks and actually some of my neighbors. I'm looking forward to getting to know some of them better. They were all very friendly and nice. Sadly, our neighbor who was running for JP didn't win, but he only lost by 130 votes out of maybe 2000. Considering he has only been in town about 1 year, that is pretty good, I think. He might give it another try in a couple of years.

We also made a fast trip and got the last of our stuff from Atown. We had a short, but sweet visit with a lot of our friends. I made a dash to Carlsbad and Roswell on Thursday, but was flying low to get all that done. Met some new people at JD's office - some really sharp additions to the team. JD wants me to hang around and still help, so I guess I will try to keep helping. For now just by phone as needed. One of the new additions is going to be a mover and shaker at getting the techno stuff done that we SO need, but has been on hold since the loss last Spring of our attorney who was the last mover and shaker in that department. I will be a happy woman if all that really gets done, and I am encouraged that it may indeed happen now. Things like: everyone actually having an email address so we can all communicate that way...what a novel concept...and the LONG overdue newly updated database. I did advise him I couldn't do much until the house is finished. He is wanting to open an office in FtWth, but that needs to wait until all the techno stuff is working right and a few other things are organized. I will not be running that office long range, just hiring and training and overseeing - if that actually happens. I have more pressing business in my life right now: house, grandchild, etc. Plus I am not interested in working 60 hours a week away from home again...been there..too old, not interested.

On to house stuff. I have decided to post a pic after the rock guys finish on the front, which will probably be this week. The roofers worked Sat and today and I think they will finish in a week or so. They ran out of some material, so they have to wait for that. The rock guys are awesome. I don't know how many there are (guess I could count next time), but they are the workingist bunch we have had yet. And I really like Clee, the guy who's business it is and who supervises them all. He is a master and the nicest guy, really. I just look at what they have done and grin. It's really going to be pretty...and soon, too.

The painter is on a hunting trip all next week, so not sure when the outside is going to get it's first dab of paint other than my test areas. I think I have that figured out and I am happy with it. Things are going good I think, but I still need to fly around the DFW area and locate some more stuff pretty soon, probably Tues or Wed of next week. I need to get organized in that department. Now that we have the apartment finished except for my touchup painting and chalking, and we don't have to go get another load in Andrews, I can focus on this.

Our other friends, who visited recently and bought property, closed on it last week. He is hoping he might get to transfer to DFW before he retires, so they could go ahead and move here and get this thing started. We are excited about that too. Their property is about 1 mile from us as the crow flys - or maybe 2 if you actually take the road. Pretty soon we're going to take over this place...they will have to rename it after us..ha.

Ok, gotta go. Now all you other bloggers get busy and blog already. PS - I'm still working on Tater.
