Ahhh, a new computer!

Everyone should be required to keep their computer for at least five years like we did. Then when you finally do upgrade, it so sooo much nicer. This LCD screen is so big I feel like I'm at the drive in-movie. If I got a wireless key board and mouse I think I could run it from my bed 20 feet away.

And it also helps not to have some stupid bug lurking deep within the bowels of the machine making it crazy. Hopefully, one of my technically gifted nephews will be able to bring it back from the brink of insanity intact. But speaking of that, I copied all my email addresses onto a disc and promptly misplaced it, so all of you who have my new email, please send me a message so I can get your email addresses set up in here. I think the disc is with the sick machine, but I don't know for sure when I'm going to get that back, so ya'll send me a message. Moe, send your new in-laws my new valor email address please.

Ok, enough personal messages in here. At least I might find out who's reading, huh...or not.

Just one small bug in this new set up so far...can't install my printer. Plug 'n play never heard of it, not in the drivers, I have the installation discs...they are for Windows 3.1 or 95. It's how old? Ok, I got my money's worth anyway, didn't I. Guess we will have to upgrade that too.

Anyway, on to building things. It is still going well other than the regular misunderstanding what I meant when I told them how I wanted the wall, showed them actualy photos, and drew pictures and told them again the day they started....don't want small stones, want big ones...but I think they get it now. Anyway, I will have a completely rocked house by weekend after next, so they say. I think they are right cause those guys work their butts off and start before daylight...maybe that's where the small stones snuck in there. We are liking it tho.

I went on a buying excursion today - got this snazzy (is that how you spell that word?)new computer and Great LCD monitor - Thanks Brother Bob!! Also got some stuff for the house, vanity and sinks and stuff...and the other good news for the day, Lar found the long lost cordless drill in some strange box and his back is just about well, Thank God! He had so much moved around in the barn/shop tonight when I got back I almost didn't recognize the place. It is all turning out very comfortable for us. He has the office set up outside the apartment (less this computer - not letting the cats or spiders near it, thank you). We have everything we need...got a new fridge and little toaster oven. We are set. Just have a few more details to finish in here and we're done. Hmmm, seems like I keep saying that, but we do whittle down on them a little every day. Those long trips to the big city set me back a bit, but I have to go do that stuff too.

Andra and I also went babyroom shopping..or just window shopping really. We are trying to track down the stuff she wants to do the room in. It's going to be pretty cute, and very unusual. She can post pics when we get it done. Didn't actually find anything today, but got lots of ideas, so that's a start. Actually, I think she already has it pretty well settled in her head, just trying to locate the pieces.

Ok, I'm getting off now. Until we meet again.

I wanna sleep!

Or rest anyway. The move was exhausting. Seems like all our stuff would NOT fit in the biggest truck UHaul rents, so we got the biggest trailer the rent - still would not all fit. So we have to go back for one more small load with our trailer. What a pain. I have figured out something about moving...it is just like having kids. If you remembered how hard it was the first time, you wouldn't do it again, but God tricks us into forgetting and there you go. I guess that's good, or the earth would not have populated itself....and no one would ever move anywhere, and how boring would that be? We would still be thinking the earth is flat.

Ok, enough of that rant. I didn't really get to rest very long - like not at all. The decisions I have to make on a daily basis are a little mind boggling. I have had to make two major treks out finding stuff, and I should have gone today, but I got a little stomach bug or something. Bummed me out cause I was out to lunch with our good friends and neighbors and had to hook it home. Oh well. Another day. I have already been to the dentist (going again tomorrow) which is my least favorite, and found a hair stylist (that's what we call them now days) and I like what she did. Of course I have not idea if I can duplicate the look.

The house is still going pretty good. The roofers are about 1/2 done I guess, and it still looks more and more like the model. Go figure. I've met with the cabinet guy: Paul Mitchell (I thought he just did hair stuff) and have the first draft of that design. I have to tweek it a little...have had to tweek quite a few things, but we are getting it done.

We still don't know when we will be heading back to Andrews to pick up the last load. I want to make a run over to Carlsbad to JD's office while I'm there and have yet to hook up with him to know when would be a good time..with the election 13 days away, I don't know if I will see him.

BTW, as you can see I am back online. Seems my idea about getting the local guys was right...he said, sure we can do it, so he put it back on track and here I am. Nothing to it. I don't know yet what speed I am running at (somebody tell me how to ck that), but it is ok. It may not be faster that the cable I had, but I can't really tell since my computer is still sick and locks up on a regular basis.

I've talked to several of my Andrews friends since we left. I will miss them, but know this is our destiny. We can't wait to see what God had in store here...and I know they will come see us sometimes. I know LAAANDa and Cyd will as soon as Debra and Bill get back and tell them about the 8 catfish they caught next door...tempting?

Ok, I gotta go try to sleep. Ya'll come see us. Bye.

Ok - Enjoy this while I have it!

We will disconnect all this tomorrow or Monday, so I'm trying to get everyone notified how to email me when I drop the Cox connection. One of the disappointments is I discovered yesterday I can't get DSL yet. Long story about I'm too far from the switch even tho my neighbor has it. We have service from the same box and he is farther back on the lot than we are. Also - we are physically closer to the switch as he is between us and the switch, but according to the person I talked to yesterday, in who knows where, our particular line is routed differently. "So why don't you just route ours like our neighbors, in a way we can get it?", I ask. Song and dance man gives me some convoluted answer. Anyway, this conversation took place in route back to Andrews when I just called to see why I had not heard from them. Seems they had been trying to contact me at my Andrews number. Duh - they just hooked up my GR land line phone Tuesday...wonder why they didn't try that? Plus I gave them my GR cell number. Anyway, I will hunt down the DSL tech on the ground and find out something from him if I can. I got more real answers from the techs here in Andrews than I ever did on the phone to someone. We will see. Hope they are like the ones I dealt with here. I liked them.

On past the connection woes. The house is still coming along very rapidly. I am really going to love it when it is done. I do love the layout - not disappointed with any of that, but I am getting a little tired of catching mistakes. Somehow I thought I was paying someone to do that. Oh well. We will get that settled next week also. We have been able to resolve all of them so far, but I'm getting a little paranoid about leaving since every time I do, something else happens. We will get back on track soon, please.

As far as progress, we finished the apartment except for some areas in the bathroom and a few trim pieces around the window and outside the front door. It helped tremendously to get the carpet down. It is really cozy. I haven't slept real good there yet, tho, because I keep arranging furniture in my head. I think that will stop once I have actually done it. Usually does. I have changed my mind about 10 times about what I plan to use in there. I think I have settled on using the Victorian queen bed to protect it from the elements. I had decided on the big armoire from our bedroom also, but I have figured out the TV will be postage stamp size from the other side of the room, so will probably use the big one from the current LR. Like anybody cares anyway. Just rambling, but that is, after all, what I do best.

I am finishing the inside packing today and tomorrow here in Andrews. We are supposed to pick up the big truck Monday a.m. and start the serious, final loading. The unfortunate thing is Lar hurt his back last Saturday. Do you think it was from all the heavy lifting he has been doing to load and unload the trailer 9 times? No, he was loading his golf clubs in his pickup. Hmm. No comment. He has seriously been working like a madman, so maybe it just caught up with him. He is taking it really easy today, using a tins (not sure of spelling)unit, eating Advil and using hot packs, etc. He will be getting a massage later today. If he can just make it thru Wednesday, he can relax for a while.

I'm looking forward to seeing W & T's new pad. I have seen the outside and it is beautiful. Sounds like so much fun. Who carried that pool table upstairs? I guess that's where you put it. I need some of that "strong man" stuff at our place next Wednesday afternoon.

Gwing, I don't know who you are yet, so give me some more clues. V & D, that sounds like fun. Walnut Springs seems to have some nice stuff available and that is very close to us. If you are there anytime after Wednesday of next week (10/13), drop in to see us. I will email our address & phone numbers to everyone if I haven't already. Bro, yes, I will be getting a new computer. I have to keep the laptop going for a while to finish out some business stuff, but want a desktop soon, so we will be talking.

Just talked to Bec, and they are still coming along on the Midland place, but still a little ways out to be finished. Maybe I will send over some of our crews...or not. The trip charge might get a little steep.

Ok, gotta go pack some more boxes. I KNOW all of you wish you were here. I know I do. Bye for now.
